KTM 530 exc '09 model
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 29, 2010I've owned many "old generation" 4 strokes and have loved them for their reliability and ease of servicing, something i thought i would'nt find in the "new school" 4's.But after taking the plunge with a new 530 exc i was happy with what i was faced with as far as servicing was concerned. NOT hard ... at all just calls out for a little TLC more frequently than the oldies. As for reliability its now done 70hrs without missing a beat and i know of older models that have done 120hrs+ without needing any work up top, but this all comes down to you and how well you look after it obviously, but if your like me and look at your bike as a second daughter im sure you will care for it as much as me and see many hours of satisfaction, after all you parted with a pretty penny to aquire it.
The power of this machine is incredible! ive added an akro pipe and tuned carb to suit just to get a mean 4 stroke bark out of it but was'nt looking for extra mumbo as the stocka is plenty fast enongh as is.If you love pulling up the front wheel at any given opportunity get one of these!3rd and 4th goes up no probs sitting down but 5th will need a bit of a yank, a for 6th i dont really have a burning desire to do 130kmph+ on the back wheel but thats just me.

2009 KTM 530 exc-r
By (I am an Enthusiast) on May 26, 2009I rode a Honda XR650l for two years then took a year off and bought the new 2009 530 KTM exc-r. I am extremely pleased with the power this bike delivers. Its throttle response is crisp and to the point with power through-out the revs. The only problem I have had with the bike was the cylinder filling ... up with fuel because I never shut the petcock on the tank off after the first ride. The charcoal filter filled with fuel first then it slowly filled the vent lines back to the carb. I solved the problem by having a dealer remove the emissions colntrol and the air pump. It has noticably more power, easier starting and better overall runnning condition. Although this bike is more suited to dirt it is still a great commuter.

Great Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 06, 2009I have had this thing for a week and I cannot get off of it. I believe that it requires more mechanical skills than other bikes. This should not be a turn off since it is easy to do once you figure it out and you will be a better motorcycle owner because of it. It has the power and the weight to ... make this a great off-road bike. While on the street you may find that the lightness makes it tricky to use if you are on the interstate and get passed by a big rig. I hated my XT225 because of the lack of power and I hated the DLR650 because of its weight. This bike is a great balance of the two but it is not a street bike and you shouldn't expect it to be.
